Sindhu,
I want to start by thanking you for treating us all today. What a momentous arangetram! It will remain not only in your books but in all of ours as well. Everything came together seamlessly as if guided by divine intervention. Your Guru Bhakti made it possible. The words from your Guru on stage tonight are the culmination of years of practice, serving as your certificate and recognition, to be cherished forever. Your accomplishment is not just a dance performance, but every letter, every word, and every satisfied expression that emerged from Ramaa aunty today.
You stepped onto the stage today with a determination to rock it, both figuratively and literally. From Anjali to mangalam, we were and still are in awe! What a beautiful entry, executed with ease and perfection. Lord Nataraja and your Guru's blessings graced your Anjali, while the pranavam protected you throughout the event.
MY Kanchi Kamakshi’s Kadaksham will always be there for you as you rendered the beautiful “Chandana Sindhura”. I saw MY Kamakshi sitting with folded legs, holding a sugarcane in front of me. I appreciated your light smile (without overdoing it) while expressing Lalithaambhigai, and the contrasting ferocious Mahakali.
Kudos to you for showcasing the "sampoorna Ramayanam" in your varnam. Roopaaka Thalam varnam is not easy, but you nailed it. No one typically likes Manthara and Soorpanaka in the Ramayanam, but today, thanks to you, we loved those two characters. What a portrayal! Namaskaram to Ramaa aunty for teaching you the intricate details of how the demoness Soorpanaka trained herself to act like a normal human being. It was enjoyable to see her walk and seduce Lakshmana. You delivered what Ramaa aunty taught you 100%. Your stamina was commendable.
"Mahadeva Shiva Sambho" was a beautiful piece in Revathi Ragam. You mastered the difficult footwork, and "Venkatachala Nilayam" will stay in my heart forever. “Vittala Panduranga” is still ringing in my ears. You brought the whole auditorium to a standstill for a minute, and unconsciously we were all saying the Lord’s name repeatedly with you and Bama akka. Nothing but tears! A cute and expression-filled Ra Ra Cinnanna stole our hearts. We thoroughly enjoyed the mischievous Sindhu, sorry Krishna!
Another masterpiece of today’s event was the Thilana. Brilliant footwork, and your dance alongside Jaishankar Sir was exceptional. I wanted to shout "bale, sabash". EVERYONE, including the musicians on stage, enjoyed it.
Bama akka scored with her beautiful and powerful voice in Venkatachala Nilayam, Ramana Sir mesmerized us in Ra Ra Chinnanna, and Ramesh Sir took us on a trance in the varnam. Ramaa and Rathi’s jathi and ease in rendering kept all of us glued to our seats for hours today.
Sindhu, you made your Guru continuously smile, enjoy, and admire you on stage today. Ramesh Sir told us backstage that the energy you brought to the stage was contagious and so positive that it helped all the musicians perform exceptionally well. In summary, your arangetram was fulfilling, or as we say in Tamil, “Niraivu”. It’s the feeling you get when you are completely satisfied and happy. That's how I feel, and I'm sure the whole audience felt it too.
Lots of love to the lighting crew and the gorgeous emcees who diligently played their parts. Everything came together so perfectly today, which doesn't happen often. I can't think of any flaws in today’s event. You have the blessings of every God and Goddess, and above all, your Guru's. Keep up this sincerity, dedication, and respect for this art form, and continue to learn. Please pass on this wonderful quality of yours and the dance to the next generation.
Thanks
Sangeetha Aunty
