Janaki Haridas

Janaki,

Thanks for inviting us for your arangetram. A beautiful start to a wonderful arangetram season. You took us on an amazing tour of Chera naadu! From Sabari Malai to Guruvayur (as Chini Krishna), then to Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, later traveling to the village (as pullavan paatu), and to the kingdom of Travancore maharaja, what a beautiful journey. We felt as though we were drenched in Edavappathy (southwest monsoon in Kerala) on a hot day. But this monsoon hit all of us with beautiful korvais, bhaavam, and abhinayam, all of it with a charming smile.

You were blessed to be with a team of knowledgeable musicians who made your arangetram a perfect one. Who would have imagined Lord Ayyapan’s story as a dance piece? My Namaskaram to Ramaa aunty for thoughtfully picking that for you and your family. The musicians just transported us to the divine abode of Sabarimalai. The emcees did a wonderful job explaining pathinettam padi and its significance, while you showed us as abhinayam. Brilliant choreography and you rendered it very well.

Kudos to you for dancing a long, enjoyable varnam. It was a delight to see your expressions as mischievous Chinni Krishna. Loved loved loved the Shiva Thandavam. Vignesh’s Thamizh diction, your dance along with Ramaa Aunty’s nattuvangam was just mind-blowing.

Just like Ayyapan’s Tat Tvam Asi which means the relation between you and the absolute, Janaki, today we saw the relation between you and dance. Praying Goddess Kamakshi, Nataraja, and your Ayyappan, that you continue to dance with the same passion and succeed at Drexel.

Please thank your family for inviting us. Ada pradhaman was super delicious! ;)

Love,

Sangeetha Aunty
