Shri, Veda, and Sumi,
By lord Nataraja’s blessings, along with your Guru Ramaa Ramesh’s blessings and guidance you three rocked the stage today. We all enjoyed it from start to finish. I loved your costumes, and jewelry. Giftson’s audio can’t get any better. Today’s audio was one of the best!! Aadarshini, and Lola on lights were a fitting pair. Reva and Shruthi with their contrast way of introducing complimented each other. Reva’s Tamil pronunciation of “Engum Niarantha Paramporuley” stole my heart!
Your arengetram was a “jathi” filled and “jathi” focused arengetram. Your varnam was colorful in all sense. It was like a marathon race, each of you handing the baton to the others. Namaskaram to Guru Ramaa Ramesh for the wonderful choreography. A detailed portrayal of the avataras - Matsya, Koorma, Varaahar, fierce Narasimhar, samudra manthanam, Gajendra Moksham, and Geetha upadesam were remarkable. For few minutes, you showed us “Thirupathi Perumal’s Thirumanjanam”. Thanks to Dr. Lakshmisha, Swetha, Mr. Balachander, along with singers Vignesh, Rathi, and Sathvika for making this important piece a grand success.
Shri, I saw the “azhagu deivam saravanan” in you. Lord Murugar’s story is not so popular in other languages. Thanks to Guru Ramaa for choreographing this song and educating many in the audience of the beautiful story of lord Murugar and how he married Valli. This pure thamizh song was beautifully rendered by the singers and their diction was “iniyadhu, iniyadhu” and our heart felt like “urugudhu, urugudhu”. Nattuvaangam was as sharp as the “vel”. I enjoyed the cute story of how Valli married Murugar, killing the demon Soorapadman, and the joyous Kavadai chindu. How did you manage to lift the kavadi, and dance with ease?! We all felt like we attended a “Thai Poosam festival”. You will always be protected by Velmurugan.
Veda, you transported all of us to Matha Vaishno Devi’s abode where Lakshmi, Saraswathi, and Parvathi all reside in one place. Rathi’s singing the Bija matram, the high intense jathis of Sathvika and Ramaa, with your dancing gave me goose bumps. Each one of you did your job with utmost sincerity and didn’t get distracted one bit. The Tridevi I saw in your solo with Ramaa and Sathvika as power packed Parvathi, Rathi in her sweet voice as Saraswathi, and you, Veda, as Mahalakshmi. Lights, sound, musicians, everything came together to make your solo a divine one. Sathvika singing the first few lines of Lalitha Sahasranamam sealed the deal. Clearly you will have Ambhal’s grace throughout your life.
Sumitha, your “Ranga puravihara” was a fitting solo for you that stole our hearts. You did wonderful abhinayam for the not-so common story narration of how Mantara poisoned Kaikayee. Ramaa knew exactly what to extract from you. Swetha just stole the show in “suyamvaram” scene. You were excellent in showing the yudha kaandam - Raavana Vadham. As a mom, and a working woman, I’m just amazed by your stamina, interest in this art, and your dedication. When half of the audience of your age can’t even get up without support, you danced for hours. Kudos to you. Lord Ranganathar will always bless you.
What a delightful Thilana. Never have I heard of an arengetram that had a Thillana Medley. We the audience were lucky to be the first ones to enjoy the four most popular among Thillana all-in-one. What a contrast in Sathvika's, Rathi’s, and Vignesh’s voice for each dancer, and it came in unison for the fourth concluding Hindolam. Swetha's transition from each ragam was exceptional. Only Mrs. Ramaa can think out of the box and choreograph such challenging thillanas, in this case, 4!!
Just like Dheena Karunakaran who is “Aadhi Andham Illaa Haran”, this art form doesn’t have an end, with your Guru’s blessings, please do your part, continue to dance, and spread the joy to the next generation.
With lot of love,
Sangeetha
